Mechanical seals are composed of high-precision components, and their sealing performance can only be better under correct and reasonable usage conditions. However, due to the complex usage conditions and sealing structure, the performance of mechanical seals is easily damaged. Therefore, reasonable maintenance, disassembly, and installation of mechanical seals for pumps are very important.

The first point is the precautions for disassembling mechanical seals.

The disassembly sequence and installation sequence of mechanical seals are opposite. During the process of disassembling the mechanical seal, it is necessary to be careful and not use a hammer or flat shovel. The machine seal should not be knocked or damaged, and the sealing surfaces of the dynamic and static rings of the machine seal should not be damaged. If there is too much dirt such as oil stains that cannot be disassembled, it must be cleaned with kerosene before disassembling, so as to maintain the integrity of all partsthe machine seal.The second point is the requirements and process for mechanical seal maintenance.

After removing the machine seal, first inspect the pump body where the organic seal is installed, and the following requirements must be met:

1. The maximum bending degree of the shaft is ≤ 0.05mm, and the axial displacement is ≤ 0.05mm;

2. The runout at the sealing ring of the moving ring is ≤ 0.01mm;

3. The surface roughness of the shaft or sleeve at the installation site of the machine seal is 1.6 μ m. The surface roughness in contact with the sealing surface of the static ring is 3.2 μ M;

4. Then inspect the mechanical seal:




(1) Check all components of the mechanical seal. All components must be complete and undamaged, and the sealing surfaces of the dynamic and static rings must have no scratches, scratches, or other defects. If any damage is found, it must be repaired or the machine seal replaced;




(2) Check if the elasticity of the spring has decreased. If it has decreased, the spring must be replaced again;




(3) Check for damage to the inner wall of the seal and the inner surface of the seal end cover. If any problems are found, repair them promptly.
